About The Role

The Senior Finance Business Partner for Europe and Corporate and Specialized Sales manages decision support for sales groups handling European institutional sales, corporate markets in Europe and North America, and specialized product sales worldwide. The role involves close cooperation with the Sales VP for Europe and the VP for Corporate and Specialized Sales to provide decision support and business management assistance. The position can be based in Heidelberg, Berlin, Dordrecht, or London with a hybrid working model.

Role Responsibilities:

1. Provide financial stewardship and governance to sales units.
2. Participate in strategic and operational decision-making.
3. Deliver accurate, insightful, and forward-looking reports promptly.
4. Support sales teams with reporting, reviews, and ad hoc analyses.
5. Review month-end reports and reconciliations.
6. Develop and present budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans for each product line and area.
7. Oversee global revenues from Nature journals and Databases.
8. Analyze and comment on deviations from budgets, forecasts, and previous years.
9. Review and proactively assess accounting impacts on sales and revenues.
10. Monitor progress and contribute to investment case development.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a business controller or similar role.
• Master's degree or equivalent qualification.
• Proficiency in English.
• Strong analytical skills and critical thinking.
• Commercial mindset.
• Excellent Excel skills.

Desirable

• Proficiency in German and additional languages.
• Experience in the publishing industry.
• Knowledge of systems like Oracle HFM and Anaplan.
