Job summary

Comxps Ltd. is seeking a Finance Business Partner to join our government client’s team in Reading. Hybrid role with 3 days onsite on a 5-day week and 2 days onsite on a 4-day week, supporting budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis. SC clearance would be advantageous.

The role requires a fully qualified accountant or equivalent experience, with strong stakeholder engagement and governance‑driven financial controls. 12-month contract with potential for extension.

Qualifications

• Experience as Finance Business Partner in a large, complex organisation.
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) or QBE.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, including Directors.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, reporting and performance analysis skills.
• Experience with governance-driven environments and financial controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes across business units.
• Challenge business cases and investment proposals.
• Develop management reports and insights for governance reviews.
• Coach and develop finance teams.

Essential:

• • Significant experience operating as a Finance Business Partner within a large, complex organisation.
• • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent OR QBE).
• • Proven ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders, including Director-level audiences.
• • Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, management reporting, and performance analysis.
• • Demonstrable experience reviewing and challenging business cases and investment proposals.
• • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance strategic priorities, affordability, and value for money.
• • Experience leading, managing, and developing finance teams.
• • Ability to translate complex financial information into meaningful business insight.
• • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• • Experience working within a governance-driven environment with robust financial control

Desirable:

• • Mix of private sector experience and experience within government, public sector, infrastructure, engineering, utilities, defence, or highly regulated environments.
• • Knowledge of business case methodologies and investment appraisal techniques.
• • Experience supporting large-scale transformation, change, or capital investment programmes.
• • Advanced financial modelling and scenario analysis experience.• Track record of driving continuous improvement and finance transformation initiatives.
