Job description

The Senior Finance Business Partner is a finance professional within Velindre University NHS Trust. They will be responsible for supporting the Deputy Head of Finance Business Partnering and Head of Finance Business Partnering in managing the Business Partnering Team for Velindre.

Main duties of the job

The key elements of this post include oversight of the production of an accurate monthly budget holder report, annual outturn forecast, ad hoc costing work, and supporting and advising budget holders on all financial matters, including investigating financial enquiries.

The post holder will also be required to provide support to other roles within the Trust-wide finance team, as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Fully Qualified Accountant CCAB (Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development within an NHS environment
  • Understanding of NHS accounting, reporting regime, and financial management & control
  • Knowledge of investment appraisal techniques
  • Experience at a senior level within NHS finance or a similar complex organization
  • Experience in recruitment, management, supervision, workload setting, appraisal, and staff development
  • Experience negotiating, drafting, and recommending agreements with external organizations
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize work for self and team
  • Confident presentation skills to diverse audiences, explaining complex financial information understandably
  • Strong analytical skills for solving complex financial problems, including comparative and option appraisal techniques
  • Highly organized, able to work under pressure while maintaining quality and communication
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines with accuracy
  • Detailed knowledge of NHS HMRC VAT rules
  • Legal knowledge regarding contractual and intellectual property matters
  • Understanding of a Trust's financial controls
  • Experience managing large, complex income and expenditure budgets; experience in business case development and benefits management
  • Willingness to work towards speaking Welsh (Level 1) if not already fluent
