Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Façade Engineer to join the London team and deliver a wide range of façade projects, from surveys to large-scale developments. You will apply technical expertise and communicate effectively with clients and project teams to resolve challenges and deliver practical engineering solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in civil/structural engineering or façade industry experience.
  • Chartered status preferred or pursuing qualification.
  • Strong façade design experience with knowledge of structure, weathertightness, fire protection, thermal performance, durability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management, including report writing.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver façade projects in a technically competent and timely manner.
  • Provide technical façade engineering advice to stakeholders.
  • Develop façade documentation and specifications to a high level of quality.
  • Communicate with clients and project teams using digital tools.
  • Research new products and supporting literature.
  • Review specialist contractor submissions.
  • Supervise and mentor design staff, approve documents for issue.

The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross‑sector skills across five key sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.

Overview of the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Façade Engineer to join a growing London team and help deliver a wide variety of façade projects. The role offers exposure to everything from investigative surveys and defect assessments to large‑scale new‑build developments.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams. You will be involved in resolving technical challenges and delivering practical engineering solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive and dynamic team and to contribute to the ongoing growth of a broader building engineering business.

Key responsibilities and duties
  • Take an active role in the delivery of façade projects in a technically competent and timely manner
  • Provide technical façade engineering advice to various stakeholders
  • Develop façade documentation and specifications to a high level of quality
  • Communicate effectively using various digital approaches
  • Research into and dissemination of new products and supporting literature
  • Review specialist contractor submissions
  • Supervision and mentoring of other design staff, checking and approving documentation for issue
Candidate specification
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering or significant experience from within the façade industry
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred (or working towards professional qualification)
  • Strong experience in façade design with detailed understanding of structure, weathertightness, fire protection, thermal performance, durability etc
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including report preparation
  • Be a self‑motivated, enthusiastic and team‑focused individual able to collaborate in multi‑discipline environment to successfully deliver Mott MacDonald façade projects
