Senior European Policy Advisor
Division – International
Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £80,600 and London £57,700 to £88,600 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The FCA is a global regulator, supporting open markets through shaping the international regulatory agenda. The International Division leads our strategy for international engagement, working collaboratively across the FCA to ensure the organisation delivers on its international priorities.
The European Strategy and Engagement Team helps set, advise and deliver on the FCA’s strategic engagement with EEA authorities and jurisdictions. It enhances the FCA’s capacity to meet its statutory and strategic objectives through high-quality international engagement, using a range of influencing tools and techniques.Our work also includes driving the FCA’s relationship with the EU, working in collaboration with colleagues across the FCA and UK authorities more broadly, to tackle strategic issues and driving our engagement with EU authorities and counterparts.
What will you be doing?
Supporting the team with the FCA’s engagement with European and national authorities (e.g. European Supervisory Authorities and national authorities).Acting as relationship manager to priority European jurisdictions
Leading the drafting and implementation of engagement plans, working closely with colleagues across the FCA to ensure a coordinated and considered approach.Leading the planning and execution of European visits for senior members of the FCA
Monitoring policy, regulatory and other developments across European countries on wholesale markets, trading policy, fixed income markets, wholesale conduct and prudential policy and producing good quality reporting and assessments for internal stakeholders
Analysing and understanding key policy and political developments and providing advice on strategic, policy, operational and supervisory challenges, including to policy teams in support of UK policy making and regulatory interventions
Producing high-quality communications products on regulatory developments for internal and external stakeholders
Working closely with HMT and the Bank of England to support combined engagement opportunities, such as CEO-level Economic and Financial Dialogues, through to working-level led engagement

Shape, design and implement important aspects of our international engagement strategy
Work with the team management to support them in their responsibility for overseeing a wide range of relationships with European regulatory authorities
Contribute to work across wholesale markets policy areas and challenges, with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring we take account of international examples and evidence in our decision-making
Work in a dynamic and changing environment, in a friendly team with experienced, highly skilled and motivated peers

Minimum
Prior experience advising and influencing internal and external stakeholders
Prior experience of financial services regulation
Essential
Relevant experience of European and/or international relations, policy making and regulation
Work inclusively and collaboratively, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, drawing on range of expertise across the wider organisation to deliver a quality service
Ability to analyse complex issues, make judgements and proposals to build a long-term plan. Comfortable working with incomplete information
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues succinctly and compellingly, adapted to the audience
Ability to identify and manage key stakeholders, building rapport and constructive relationships
Good self-management and organisational skills, delivering multiple tasks under pressure
Clear understanding and articulation of the FCA’s functions and objectives within the UK financial regulatory framework and our approach to supervision and enforcement
Comfortable working across a wide range of regulatory policy areas and challenges
