Job summary

TWG Consulting in Coventry, West Midlands, is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead pre-contract tendering for water, aviation and highways projects. You will develop estimates from first principles, manage tender strategy and provide commercial input across major civil engineering opportunities.

The role offers an up to £80,000 salary plus package, plus a comprehensive benefits scheme and flexible working arrangements. You will mentor junior staff and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Experience as Senior Estimator or senior construction professional.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering construction methods and planning.
• Ability to prepare accurate estimates from first principles.
• Experience evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Ability to interpret drawings and perform quantity take-offs.
• Knowledge of permanent and temporary works.
• Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of contracts.
• Degree or relevant construction qualification preferred.
• Experience with CANDY and Bluebeam is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed tender estimates from first principles.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to identify scope, risks and opportunities.
• Complete quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities and permanent/temporary works packages.
• Carry out site visits and assess project conditions that may affect pricing.
• Obtain, evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Compile complete tender submissions, programmes and supporting documentation.
• Work closely with commercial, engineering, procurement and operational teams throughout the tender process.
• Support tender strategy, contract negotiations, award and handover to delivery teams.
• Analyse estimating data and produce commercial reports and dashboards.
• Mentor junior team members and support improvements to estimating procedures and systems.
