Job summary

Northland Controls is seeking an experienced Estimator located in Letchworth, UK, to lead cost estimating for complex physical security projects. You will translate technical specifications into comprehensive proposals, collaborating with Design, PMO, and Procurement teams to drive bids and improve accuracy.

The role requires 5+ years of estimating experience in security or infrastructure, with strong skills in cost modeling, vendor pricing, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

5+ years estimating physical security, electrical, low-voltage, or infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

Lead cost estimating for integrated physical security projects.
Analyze design documents (drawings, specs, narratives) to produce precise estimates.
Respond to RFPs/RFQs with complete cost models, BOMs, and value-engineered alternatives.
Collaborate with Design Engineers to optimize system designs for cost-effectiveness.
Coordinate with PMO to align estimates with project timelines and deliverables.
Source and validate pricing from vendors and support Procurement in finalizing bids.
Maintain and improve estimating tools, templates, and pricing databases.
Identify and mitigate risks, gaps, and ambiguities in scope or estimates.
Participate in pre- and post-bid reviews for ongoing accuracy improvement.
