Job summary

S Guest Consultancy Services Ltd in Derby is seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator to join a Midlands-based main contractor with a strong project pipeline across education, healthcare, commercial and industrial sectors.

You will manage tenders from enquiry to submission, develop pricing strategies, produce cost plans, review drawings and quantities, and work with Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operational teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with main contractors on pricing construction projects.
• Experience in new build and/or refurbishment projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methodology.
• Knowledge of subcontractor markets and supply chains.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
• Strong commercial awareness.
• Ability to interrogate drawings, specs and tender information.
• Experience managing tenders independently.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• A construction qualification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.
• Preparing detailed and accurate estimates.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Producing bills of quantities and tender breakdowns.
• Subcontractor and supplier enquiries.
• Analysing quotations and identifying best value.
• Assessing project risk and opportunity.
• Working with Design, Commercial and Operational teams.
• Supporting value engineering and alternative construction solutions.
• Attending tender adjudications and client meetings.
• Contributing to tender presentations and post-tender negotiations.
• Supporting handover of secured projects to delivery teams.
