Job summary

Talk Recruitment is seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator for a hybrid role in the North West, UK. The position focuses on tendering for projects predominantly in the public sector, working with one of the UK’s largest privately owned main contractors.

You will manage cost plans, collaborate with preconstruction, guide design teams on affordability, and drive procurement and value engineering across RIBA stages.

Qualifications

• Experience in building sector projects.
• Previous roles: Assistant Estimator / Estimator / Senior Estimator.
• Previous Main Contractor employment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all costs on the project align with scope, customer requirements and current legislation.
• Collaborate with preconstruction to secure and convert tender projects.
• Create robust, accurate cost plans through design gateways up to target price.
• Guide the design team and inform the customer about affordability.
• Identify opportunities and risks using technical experience and propose value-adding solutions.
• Collaborate to value alternative design solutions and present to the customer.
• Support change control by costings across RIBA stages.
• Carry out cost take-offs to required detail (SMM7/NRM2/building quants).
• Provide a complete cost information pack during substantiation for handover including BOQ, tender book and quotations.
• Lead procurement schedule and manage supply chain relationships.
