Job summary

Foresight Search Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to join the pre-construction team in Bristol. You will price refurbishment and fit-out projects from enquiry through tender submission, collaborating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver competitive tenders.

You will work across varied schemes (£100k–£4m) with flexible working, including up to three days remote, and the chance to take ownership of larger bids as a Senior Estimator.

Qualifications

• Must have proven Estimator/Senior Estimator experience in refurbishment and fit-out environments.
• Strong ability to price complex refurbishment and fit-out projects.
• Experience managing tenders from enquiry through submission and award.

Responsibilities

• Manage tenders from enquiry to final submission
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for refurbishment and fit out
• Take-off quantities from drawings and specifications
• Build up rates and pricing from first principles
• Prepare subcontractor and supplier enquiry packages
• Analyze subcontractor quotations and select best value
• Develop and maintain supply chain relationships
• Identify risks, opportunities and value engineering options
• Review specifications and tender docs
• Attend site visits and client meetings as required
• Produce accurate, competitive tender submissions
• Support pre-construction activities and tender handovers
• At Senior level, take ownership of larger, more complex tenders

Estimator / Senior Estimator - The Company

Projects typically range from £100k to £4m and include a broad mixture of refurbishment, alteration and fit out schemes, providing a varied pipeline of work rather than repetitive new build projects.

The business offers an excellent working environment with a high level of trust and autonomy. They operate a genuinely flexible working model, including up to three days working remotely, alongside a strong pipeline of work and excellent long-term opportunities.

Estimator / Senior Estimator - The Role

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to join the pre-construction team and take responsibility for pricing refurbishment and fit out projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission.

Depending on experience, you will either work as part of the existing estimating function or take greater ownership of tenders at Senior Estimator level, managing the complete estimating process and playing a key role in securing new projects.

You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and the wider commercial and operational teams to produce competitive, accurate and commercially robust tenders.

Estimator / Senior Estimator - Responsibilities

• Managing tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission
• Preparing detailed cost estimates for refurbishment and fit out projects
• Taking off and measuring quantities from drawings and specifications
• Building up rates and pricing works from first principles
• Preparing subcontractor and supplier enquiry packages
• Analysing and comparing subcontractor quotations
• Developing and maintaining strong supply chain relationships
• Identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions
• Reviewing specifications, drawings and tender documentation
• Attending site visits, tender meetings and client meetings where required
• Producing accurate and commercially competitive tender submissions
• Working closely with commercial and operational teams during pre-construction
• Supporting tender handovers following successful project awards
• At Senior level, taking ownership of larger and more complex tenders

Estimator / Senior Estimator - Requirements

• Previous experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within a main contracting environment
• Strong refurbishment and/or fit out experience
• Experience pricing projects across a range of values and complexities
• Strong measurement, take-off and pricing ability
• Good understanding of subcontractor procurement and tender analysis
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Ability to independently manage tenders from enquiry through to submission
• Existing subcontractor and supply chain relationships would be advantageous
• Strong communication and organisational skills

Estimator / Senior Estimator - The Reward
