Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Senior Estimator to join the Pre-Construction Team to support profitable tenders and accurate cost estimation. You will lead the estimating effort and mentor others while collaborating across teams to ensure successful project delivery.

You will work within Kier's Strategic Projects group, applying strong commercial awareness and cost planning skills to maximise margin across bids.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an estimating team in a construction environment.
• Proficient in Excel, estimating software, and take-off tools such as Blue Beam.
• Demonstrated leadership within a pre-construction team.
• Experience mentoring junior team members and driving best practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the estimating team, promoting best practice throughout the tender process.
• Estimate costs and resources for projects, negotiate with suppliers to minimise costs.
• Contribute to tender assessment, preparation and submission to maximise profit and minimise risk.
• Build strong commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Participate in handovers to fulfilment teams and provide accurate reports and forecasts.

We're looking for Senior Estimators to join our Pre-Construction Team within Kier Strategic Projects.

Location: Nationwide
Hours: Full-time - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

As a Senior Estimator, you'll play a vital role insupporting the generation of profitable tenders within our Construction business. You'll be estimating project costs, identifying opportunities to maximise profit, and working collaboratively across teams to ensure successful project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity to use your technical expertise whilst developing and mentoring others in the estimating team.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Estimator, you'll be working within the Strategic Projects team, supporting them in delivering profitable tenders and maximising the order pipeline. Your day to day will include:

• Leading and motivating the estimating team, promoting best practice throughout the tender process
• Estimating costs and resources for projects, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to minimise costs
• Contributing to the assessment, preparation, and submission of tenders whilst maximising profit and minimising risk
• Building strong commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and suppliers
• Participating in project handovers to fulfilment teams and providing accurate reports and forecasts

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Estimator is great for you if:

• You have experience working within a Main Contractor or Tier 1 Contractor company
• You're proficient in Excel, Estimating System Software, and take-off software such as Blue Beam
• You can demonstrate leadership experience within a pre-construction team
• You have examples of developing and mentoring junior team members
• You possess knowledge of benchmarking and cost planning with a conscientious, detail-oriented approach
