You will review tender documents, quantify labour, plant, materials and subcontract costs, assess quotations, and communicate pricing to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator role within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Experience in power transmission and distribution is ideal or transferable civils skills.
• Experience preparing and reviewing project estimates and handling quotations.
• Ability to interpret project information and explain estimating assumptions clearly.
• Strong communication and collaboration across bid, commercial and operational teams.

Senior Estimator – Power & Major Infrastructure

Location: Near Glasgow, Scotland

Sector: Power Transmission & Distribution / Civil Engineering

Salary: £75,000 to £80,000, depending on experience

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Resolute Group is working with a leading infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Estimator for major infrastructure projects near Glasgow.

The role will support the development of robust, competitive estimates for project opportunities in the power transmission and distribution sector. Direct power experience is ideal, but the business will also consider estimators with a strong civil engineering background and relevant transferable skills.

Working with bid, commercial and operational colleagues, you will help assess project requirements, build reliable cost estimates and contribute to well-supported tender submissions.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure projects in the Glasgow area, with a focus on work in the power transmission and distribution sector. The role offers scope for candidates with relevant power experience as well as estimators from a strong civil engineering background who can bring transferable expertise.

AS SENIOR ESTIMATOR, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Reviewing tender information, drawings, specifications and project requirements to understand the scope of work.
• Developing detailed estimates for labour, plant, materials, subcontract works and other project costs.
• Obtaining and assessing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, clarifying scope and comparing submissions.
• Identifying assumptions, exclusions, risks and opportunities and ensuring these are reflected in the estimate.
• Working with operational and technical teams to develop practical approaches to delivering the work.
• Preparing clear estimating information and supporting documentation for tender submissions and internal reviews.
• Contributing to estimate reviews, challenging cost inputs and communicating key pricing considerations to stakeholders.
• Supporting the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team, including the basis of estimate and key risks.
• Helping maintain consistent estimating records, cost information and working methods.

EXPERIENCE

• Proven experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator role within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Experience in power transmission and distribution is ideal. Candidates with a strong civils background and skills transferable to power infrastructure will also be considered.
• Experience preparing and reviewing project estimates and working with supplier or subcontractor quotations.
• Ability to interpret project information, identify cost and scope considerations, and explain estimating assumptions clearly.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across bid, commercial and operational teams.
