Job summary

AmcoGiffen is seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator to join our Civil Engineering team in Scotland. You will work on rail and non-rail projects, performing First Principles estimating, take-offs from drawings, and pricing risks to produce competitive tenders.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in civil engineering sectors.
• First Principles Estimating experience essential.
• Proficient with Excel and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Register, control, and administer tender documentation.
• Prepare and manage tenders from document receipt to delivery.
• Present tenders at senior-management tender review meetings.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain on supplier/subcontractor enquiries.
• Analyze and price labour, plant, materials, and temporary works.
• Prepare tender submission documents and estimating reports.

Our Scotland business unit is involved in a variety of projects, including small civil works within our Civils Asset Management framework, large-scale rail infrastructure projects, and non-rail civil engineering infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effective registration, control, and administration of tender documentation
• Preparation and management of tenders from receipt of documents through to delivery
• Presentation of tenders to senior management at tender review meetings
• Liaison with the Supply Chain team in respect of placing supplier/subcontractor enquiries
• Technical and commercial appraisal of construction labour, plant, materials, and temporary works
• Take-offs from drawings and production of cost-effective tenders from first principles
• Effective analysis and pricing of risks
• Preparation of tender submission documents
• Preparation of estimating reports
• Providing assistance to proposals and contract management functions

Requirements:

• Previous experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in multi-disciplinary civil engineering sectors such as rail, highways, aviation, and/or utilities and power
• First Principles Estimating experience
• Civil engineering project experience
• Working knowledge of Excel (& Word) and estimating software
