Senior Estimating Engineer: CNC & Value Engineering

Job summary

Ambitek Limited is seeking an Estimating Engineer to prepare accurate, competitive quotations and support manufacturing of reliable solutions. You will liaise with clients and suppliers, review drawings and BOMs, and contribute to value engineering opportunities.

The role requires a strong engineering/manufacturing background, experience with CNC turning/milling basics, and proficiency in MS Excel for cost estimations. Driving licence and commuting flexibility are preferred.

Qualifications

• A strong engineering or manufacturing background with good awareness of CNC turning and milling principles.
• A thorough understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and tolerances, and feasibility to manufacture a wide range of components.
• Experience of compiling quotations is preferred but not essential.
• Awareness of working within railway industry is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience with machined and cast components and the application of tooling and fixtures.
• Experience of fabrication methods preferred but not essential.
• Ability to work as part of a team and manage own workload to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
• Strong IT skills including MS Excel and the use and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Experience of CAD systems is preferred but not essential.
• Competent in working to recognised international standards and customer specifications.
• Confident written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to liaise with colleagues, suppliers and customers.
• Full UK driving license

Responsibilities

• Managing and producing accurate, competitive technical and commercial quotations from initial enquiry to quotation.
• Review technical drawings, specifications, and CAD models to accurately interpret client requirements.
• Liaising with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and stakeholders throughout the tender process.
• Conducting site visits (where required) to assess specific project requirements.
• Build and develop strong and long-term relationships with clients and suppliers.
• Support the operational team in delivering the client expectations.
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to determine the most cost-effective manufacturing solutions and identify value engineering opportunities.
