Job summary

West Sussex County Council invites applications for a Senior Estate Surveyor to lead the estate and valuation service across a diverse property portfolio, including schools, libraries and offices. You will manage landlord and tenant matters, supervise a small team, and work with external consultants to maximise income and asset value.

Based in Chichester, this full-time role is 37 hours per week with travel around the county.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• RICS qualification or equivalent property qualification or experience.
• Experience with property management, contracts, leases and related legislation.
• Senior level experience in a strategic, multi-site estate environment.
• Experience in business planning and project coordination.
• Experience mentoring staff or external consultants.

Responsibilities

• Deliver effective operation of estate and valuation services across assets.
• Manage landlord and tenant matters across commercial, community and agricultural leases.
• Line-manage up to three estate surveyors, with welfare, guidance and training.
• Procure external contractors/agents for surveys, planning and valuation work.
• Contribute to capital receipts and income generation through estate activities.
• Engage with external consultants to deliver client-focused services.
