Job summary

South Kesteven District Council is seeking a Senior Environmental Health Officer in Environmental Protection based in Grantham. You will report to the Community Safety Manager and oversee a small team, delivering a full range of environmental protection responsibilities.

The role includes supervision, development of policies, and engagement with stakeholders. It offers a clear career path within a supportive team and a full-time 37-hour week.

Qualifications

• Experience in Environmental Protection functions and regulatory framework.
• Ability to supervise and mentor a small team.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to balance advisory and enforcement approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of Environmental Protection functions (statutory nuisance, pollution control, permits).
• Oversee contaminated land investigations and public health matters (rodents, vermin, drainage).
• Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues; prepare reports and attend tribunals if required.
• Act as statutory consultee for planning and licensing applications.
