Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) to provide independent, transparent oversight of construction activities on complex infrastructure projects across the UK. You will monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with consents and legislation.

The role is field-based with regular travel across the UK, offering leadership to EnvCoWs, guidance on mitigation, and collaboration with clients, regulators and contractors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Ecology or related field.
• Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., AEnvCoW, CIEEM, ISEP).
• CSCS card (or willingness to obtain).
• Auditing or environmental compliance training (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Deliver independent, evidence-based environmental compliance monitoring.
• Lead environmental inspections and audits across multi-site construction projects.
• Produce weekly RAG reports and monthly compliance summaries with clear findings.
• Interpret CEMPs, licences and environmental documentation for project teams.
