Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Environment Manager to lead environmental assurance across a substantial HS2 project. You will oversee environmental performance, coordinate a small team of specialists, and work with contractors and regulators to meet obligations.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a track record in major infrastructure environments. Hybrid work arrangement with on-site/in-office presence three days per week.

Qualifications

• Significant environmental management experience on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
• Previous leadership or line management experience.
• Experience in client-side assurance, consultancy or principal contractor environments.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and environmental compliance.
• Experience managing complex environmental issues through to resolution.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to make balanced decisions and remain resilient under pressure.
• Full UK driving licence and vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental assurance across HS2 route, providing strategic oversight.
• Head a small team and coordinate specialist technical expertise across the business.
• Ensure environmental obligations and statutory requirements are met by delivery partners.
• Support successful delivery of the project and maintain high standards of environmental performance.
