Job summary

HS2 Ltd. is seeking a Senior Environment Manager to lead environmental assurance across a key section of the UK’s HS2 route. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership of a small team, coordinating expertise across construction, ecology, landscape and compliance.

Based in the Banbury/Southam area, the position requires 3 days on site and 2 days from home per week. A strong contract knowledge base and regulator engagement experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Significant environmental management experience on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
• Previous leadership or line management experience.
• Experience working in client-side assurance, consultancy or principal contractor environments.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and environmental compliance.
• Experience managing complex environmental issues through to resolution.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to make balanced decisions and remain resilient when managing challenging situations.
• Full UK driving licence and vehicle.
• Desirable Chartered environmental professional or equivalent.
• Experience working with NEC contracts.
• Experience engaging with regulators such as Environment Agency or similar statutory bodies.
• Rail, highways or other nationally significant infrastructure project experience.

Responsibilities
