Job summary

HS2 Ltd is seeking an Environment Manager SCS to provide professional and technical support ensuring compliance with environmental minimum requirements across design and construction. You will guide environmental design solutions and ensure ESG considerations are integrated into project design.

The role involves coordinating assurance activities, authorising approvals, and reporting environmental matters, with a focus on delivering compliant, sustainable outcomes across large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• Understanding of UK environmental law and CDM regulations.
• Experience managing standards, engineering and environmental activity on large complex major projects.
• Commercial awareness including cost delivery, schedule targets and integrated solutions.
• Membership of an appropriate professional institution or the equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Support technical assurance through production, checking and submission of assurance evidence.
• Coordinate and undertake the environment element of risk-based technical assurance.
• Authorize Mandatory Approvals ensuring compliance with EMRs and CoCP.
• Communicate HS2 Environment & Sustainability requirements to IPT contractors.
• Provide guidance for environmental design solutions and ensure ESG considerations in design.
• Support internal and external reporting of environmental matters.
• Liaise with stakeholders at local, regional and national levels on environmental issues.
• Develop mitigation strategies with other technical specialists.
