Job summary

Equans is seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor to join the DES business from our Glasgow office on a hybrid basis. You will ensure environmental compliance for major infrastructure projects, liaising with site teams, planners and regulators, and supporting the Great Grid Upgrade program during a secondment.

The role requires a relevant degree, strong knowledge of planning legislation and environmental permitting, and a track record in construction/infrastructure environments.

Qualifications

  • Degree or professional qualification in environmental science or management.
  • Membership or accreditation with a recognised body such as IEMA is desirable.
  • Significant experience in environmental compliance for construction or infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on construction environmental compliance and planning requirements.
  • Liaise with site teams, planners, environmental specialists and regulators.
  • Monitor environmental performance and identify risks with mitigation.
  • Prepare and review environmental reports, documentation and compliance records.
  • Support communications between multidisciplinary teams on environmental matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement in environmental practices within Infrastructure Services.
  • Transition to other projects after secondment as required.

With vast potential to explore new markets, develop fresh channels, and expand our reach, this is a unique chance to join a forward-thinking team at the forefront of digital transformation.Role overviewThe Senior Environmental Advisor will play a critical role in ensuring environmental compliance for construction projects within Infrastructure Services, initially supporting the Great Grid Upgrade projects on a secondment basis. The role involves a deep understanding of environmental planning requirements, active liaison with site teams and technical specialists, and providing expert advice to ensure all construction activities meet regulatory and company environmental standards.
