Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Senior Environment Advisor for the Letchmore Heath Substation project to lead environmental excellence on site and drive sustainable outcomes. You will work with project teams, regulators and specialists to ensure compliance, manage risks, and champion best practice, balancing programme needs with environmental objectives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability or related discipline.
• Membership of IEMA, IES or CIEEM (Practitioner level or above preferred).
• Environmental Auditor qualification.
• Experience working within the energy, utilities or major infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities

• Support sustainability ambitions, helping achieve Net Zero and nature-positive outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with the Energy and Environmental Management System and relevant legislation.
• Embed environmental requirements throughout project delivery.
• Identify environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate consultants and contractors to manage environmental risks.
• Develop and maintain the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
• Produce and maintain the Resource Management Plan and waste targets.
• Deliver environmental training and awareness sessions for project teams.
• Monitor environmental performance through inspections and audits.
• Analyse environmental data and report key metrics.
