Job summary

Palo Alto Networks in the United Kingdom seeks a Principal Software Architect to define and design the end-to-end architecture for our enterprise-scale SaaS applications. You will guide technology choices, ensure seamless integration, and collaborate across teams to align technical strategy with business goals.

The role requires 13+ years in software development with languages such as Python, Go, Node, Ruby, Java or C#, at least 5 years in an architecture role, and deep experience with cloud

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 13+ years of software development experience with Python/Go/Node/Ruby/Java/C#, including architecture work.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS/Azure/Google Cloud.
• Experience in enterprise-scale SaaS development, microservices, and CI/CD.
• Experience with big data, messaging, real-time processing, storage, and delivery.
• Knowledge of security standards and compliance.
• Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Define and design end-to-end system architecture for backend services, APIs, and UI components.
• Define UI architecture patterns, state management, and performance optimization.
• Evaluate and guide frontend and backend technology choices to meet business goals.
• Review Low-Level Designs (LLDs) and ensure architectural decisions are followed.
• Collaborate with System Architects, Product Owners, and Team Leads to align strategy.
• Analyze technical requirements, manage tech debt, and estimate costs/efforts.
• Lead complex features or refactors and mentor peers.
