Job summary

Computacenter's GIS IT delivery organisation in Hatfield seeks an experienced Programme/Portfolio Manager to lead a portfolio of 20–30 concurrent projects across applications, infrastructure, cloud and data. You will shape priorities, governance and delivery plans and provide concise, decision-led reporting to senior leadership.

You will mentor a team of around ten Project Managers, drive delivery excellence, manage about £5–£7 million in annual expenditure, and foster accountability,

Qualifications

• At least five years as Programme Manager and five years as Portfolio Manager/Portfolio Lead.
• Direct accountability for a portfolio of 20+ concurrent projects and £5-7M annual spend.
• Line-management for eight Project Managers with objective setting and development.
• Strong governance, prioritisation, demand management, forecasting, resource planning and risk tracking.
• Credibility with executive stakeholders and experience presenting to Steering Committees.
• History of leading recovery across underperforming projects and restoring delivery confidence.
• Formal MSP or MoP qualification with PRINCE2, PMP or APM or equivalent.
• Clear communication, commercial judgement and ability to bring structure and pace to complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day performance of an enterprise portfolio with integrated roadmap across priorities and budgets.
• Lead and develop a team of ~10 Project Managers, setting standards for planning, governance, finance and delivery quality.
• Drive portfolio intake, prioritisation and reforecasting with evidence-based recommendations.
• Maintain control of £5-7 million annual expenditure, including budgets, commitments, actuals and forecasts.
• Establish governance and assurance rhythm; challenge plans and lead recovery actions.
• Provide concise, decision-led reporting to Steering Committees and senior leadership.
• Strengthen portfolio insights, tools and ways of working to improve predictability and value.
