Job description

The Opportunity

As a Senior Enterprise Architect within Parliament, you will hold a pivotal and strategic position in collaborating with senior parliamentary business, strategy, and technical leads. Your primary objective will be to showcase the strategic importance of Enterprise Architecture in shaping effective decision making, driving business change, and fostering technology innovation within the parliamentary context. You will bring your knowledge and experience to collaborate on the development and refinement of business capability models, reference architectures and technology roadmaps, facilitating productive discussions and supporting informed decision-making across Parliament.

  • taking a strategic approach to aligning initiatives with overarching digital and parliamentary objectives, analysing the organisations technology needs, and contributing to the development of standards, reference architectures, and roadmaps to achieve transformative outcomes in collaboration with Lead Enterprise Architects and subject-matter experts.
  • providing guidance on optimal architectural design, guiding teams to adhere to correct technical governance processes while ensuring the appropriate application of organisational standards and methodologies.
  • identifying and mitigating architecture challenges or risks ensuring successful outcomes that align with parliamentary priorities and meet the highest parliamentary standards.
  • defining and managing technical procurement requirements that align with strategic goals and meet the high standards set within Parliament.
  • mediating between technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping to solve problems using clear, accessible communication.

What You Need

  • experience as a Technical, Solution, Business, or Enterprise Architect (or equivalent) in a Public Sector context, demonstrating a working-level capability across a range of architectures, technologies, and programming languages. Should be TOGAF 9 certified or working towards certification (Desirable).
  • experience of contributing to the development of reference architectures, technology policies and/or technical standards, including experience of following clear technical governance processes.
  • experience of building good relationships with stakeholders at various levels with an ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • experience of translating of business problems into practical solutions, following organisational patterns and standards while demonstrating knowledge of when to diverge to meet unique organisational requirements.
  • strong decision-making abilities, considering risk and complexity, and an aptitude for influencing positive outcomes while adapting solutions to meet parliamentary standards and compliance requirements.
  • the ability to pass security clearance, backed by the right to work in the UK

About The Team

The Enterprise Architecture team is part of the Office of the CTO. We are responsible for developing Parliament's technology strategy ensuring that Parliament has the technology it needs to do its work. We do this through mapping Parliament's digital landscape, working closely with teams across Parliament to understand how demand for digital will change over time, working with teams in the Digital Service to develop roadmaps and developing Parliament's reference architecture, standards and design patterns
