Job summary

Expedia Group, London, is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead Hotels.com Technology’s engineering team. You will own technical direction, drive API design and data modeling for traveler-facing services, and mentor engineers in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.

The role balances hands-on contribution with leadership, emphasizing safe AI/ML adoption, robust CI/CD, and cross-functional collaboration with product, design, data, and platform teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in engineering.
• 3+ years of people management experience.
• Experience managing engineering teams with end-to-end ownership.
• Hands-on coding and ability to reason about designs and incidents.
• Strong proficiency in OO/functional programming, system design, API design, data modeling.
• Experience with AI/ML-enabled systems and safe integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead a software engineering team in designing, building, and operating high-availability services.
• Stay hands-on: review designs, prototype, and debug production issues.
• Shape technical strategy and long-term architecture across Hotels.com experience.
• Grow engineers across domains and stacks to tackle high-value work.
• Hold high standards for quality, reliability, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident response.
• Move fast with limited information and validate via experiments.
• Hire, develop, and mentor engineers and managers.
• Make AI/ML part of every mission and drive governance and iteration.
