Job summary

Ricardo is seeking an Engineering Drawing Checker in the UK to independently verify engineering drawings and associated documentation before submission to the Chief Designer for approval. You will act as the quality gate for GD&T compliance and manufacturing requirements, guiding engineers and improving documentation quality.

The role requires extensive GD&T and drafting knowledge, experience with design and manufacturing processes, and the ability to work with minimal supervision under tight

Qualifications

• Degree (Bachelor or Masters) in mechanical engineering or similar field or with equivalent experience.
• Demonstrable experience as a Senior Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Drawing Checker.
• Expert GD&T knowledge (BS 8888 and/or ISO TPD/GPS).
• Extensive practical application of GD&T principles.
• Experience performing or reviewing drawings and tolerance stack analyses.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, casting, fabrication and assembly.
• Knowledge of inspection methods and metrology principles.
• Understanding of Engine design and engine technologies preferable but not a prerequisite.
• Knowledge of Windchill PLM preferable but not a prerequisite.
• Knowledge of CREO preferable but not a prerequisite.
• Self-motivated
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Ability to work with minimum supervision

Responsibilities

• Check Engine drawings and verify fit, form, and function.
• Identify drawing errors, inconsistencies, and omissions before release.
• Review assembly drawings for BOM structure and relationships.
• Assess manufacturability and assembly considerations during reviews.
• Highlight technical risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain drawing review checklists and contribute to improvements.
• Provide coaching to Design Engineers on drawing standards and GD&T.
• Contribute to project drawing requirement documents.
• Verify documentation is released and controlled per procedures.
• Support engineering change management and drawing updates
