Job summary

Siemens Energy seeks a Senior Engineer to lead the production and approval of Protection Engineering drawings and documents in line with design specs, schedule, and safety standards. You will manage design packages, risk assessments, and change control, ensuring timely responses to non-conformances and collaboration across departments.

You will engage with clients, attend site and technical meetings, and gain product/site knowledge through visits to UK sites and German factories to support

Qualifications

• Experience in Protection Engineering and electrical design processes.
• Familiarity with Transmission/Distribution standards and technologies.
• Strong verbal/written communication and teamwork.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to design challenges.

Responsibilities

• Produce and approve Protection Engineering design packages and technical specifications.
• Maintain design change control and respond to NCR+ non-conformances.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and clients; attend site and technical meetings.
• Provide tendering support and contribute to Type Registration and design approvals.

Snapshot of your day

As a Senior Engineer at Siemens Energy, you will be responsible for generation of Protection Engineering drawings/documents in line with internal and customer Design Specifications, adhering to programme, budget, quality, health & safety requirements.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Production / Approval of Protection Engineering Detailed Design Packages


• Production / Approval of Engineering Technical Specifications


• Production / Approval of Design Risk Assessments


• Maintain the design change control process on associated schemes


• Provide timely responses to non-conformances raised through the NCR+ process


• Coordinate with other departments in resolution of interdisciplinary issues


• Attend site meetings to discuss and advise construction staff on site related issues


• Attend Technical Meetings with Client, site or office based, to ensure Client satisfaction


• Gain product knowledge and site knowledge through visits to UK sites and German factories.


• Provide tendering support when required


• Co-ordinate with Technology team by contributing on technical issues to facilitate Type Registration including design approval

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum HNC/ Degree Qualified in Electrical Engineering


• Experience within the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry, including UK Transmission System experience


• Conversant with the latest Transmission and Distribution standards & technologies applicable to Protection Engineering


• Flexible approach to design solutions / Decision making skills


• Positive working attitude, able to demonstrate self-motivation and a proactive approach


• Good written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills


• Ability to manage, motivate and inspire others within the project secondary design team


• Good customer focus skills
