With growing project deliverables and a strong growth strategy for Scotland, we currently have an opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer (Renewables Energy Infrastructure) to join our team in Edinburgh.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the production of design packages for concept, tender and detailed phases of renewable energy projects relating to wind, transmission, or other renewable energy project infrastructure and access design, considering buildability, electrical component standards, and environmental constraints.
  • Design of bridges and retaining structures, considering structural form and flooding levels, and coordinating structural design.
  • Conduct catchment assessments, culvert hydraulic design including CAR authorization.
  • Develop sustainable drainage concepts and details, consulting with EA or SEPA where necessary.
  • Design public highway improvements and electrical component delivery, including road authority consultation and road construction consent submission.
  • Coordinate with other discipline leads for geotechnical and structural design to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary services.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary engineering design projects or packages, acting as the client’s key contact.
  • Manage health, safety, and environmental hazards from design concept to detailed stages, working with project teams to develop hazard knowledge, risk, and mitigation strategies. Communicate residual risks effectively.
  • Implement project management procedures, adhering to HSQE principles and statutory requirements.

Experience:

  • Postgraduate experience in consulting engineering or similar organizational structure.
  • Experience leading or being part of a design team delivering civil infrastructure packages, especially for renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge of environmental and engineering design procedures and construction processes.
  • Understanding of work-winning principles and client relationship management.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant software.

Technical Attributes:

  • Experience in civil infrastructure design related to core duties.
  • Developing project management and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civils 3D modeling.
  • Experience in sustainable drainage design and materials testing.
  • Knowledge of construction standards and statutory approval processes.

Qualifications:

  • BEng or MEng in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered status with ICE, CIHT, or equivalent preferred, or working towards it.
