Job summary

Transport for Wales is hiring a Senior Engineer - Highways and Active Travel to design and deliver regional active travel infrastructure as part of a national multidisciplinary team.

You will develop concept designs, manage stakeholders, and ensure safety and compliance with design standards while improving Welsh active travel networks.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to Welsh Government initiatives and to influence street design across urban and rural settings.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Experience of highway design practice.
• Experience in a technical design team environment.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and design standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop the concept, detailed designs, CAD drawings and construction information for active travel infrastructure projects by following the appropriate design standards, legislation and guidance to meet the Client's requirements.
• Support and advocate Highway Authority and TfW led active travel project designs by providing design review services and liaising with clients' officers on schemes.
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, leading engagement processes to manage reputational risks and to manage project risks.
• Contribute to further development of the Active Travel Act Guidance by gathering best practice from TfW and partners to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of active travel infrastructure in Wales.
