Job summary

Bank of America in Bromley is seeking a Senior Engineer to shape our strategic Post Trade Data Platform. You will join a global engineering team delivering scalable, resilient solutions that enable advanced analytics, operational intelligence and AI-driven use cases.

The role requires deep JVM expertise, experience with Spark/Flink, and strong cloud/DevOps capabilities. You will mentor peers, contribute to architecture decisions, and ensure high standards of software quality across the platform.

Qualifications

• Bespoke JVM language expertise (Scala/Java) with performance tuning.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms and databases.
• Cloud and DevOps knowledge (Linux, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Ansible).
• Experience building reactive, event-sourced systems.
• Hands-on with Apache Spark and Apache Flink.
• Strong REST API design and data format know-how (Protobuf/Avro/Parquet).
• Familiarity with Iceberg, Databricks and Hadoop ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable, resilient solutions for the data platform.
• Define architecture and strategy supporting operations and business needs.
• Provide technical leadership through reviews and engineering excellence.
• Mentor engineers and drive continuous platform improvement.
