Job summary

Deutsche Bank in London is seeking a Senior Engineer, FX Technology at Vice President level to design and develop core FX platforms, optimize performance and reliability, and contribute to a high‑caliber engineering culture.

You will partner with business stakeholders on requirements, lead subsystem design and architectural decisions, mentor teams, and tackle production incidents while advancing scalable, cloud‑native infrastructure for a global trading environment.

Qualifications

• Experience developing software in Java with the knowledge to design, build and maintain applications.
• Experience designing high‑load distributed systems and fault‑tolerant applications.
• Good knowledge of Linux, containers and cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new functionality using Java and Kotlin.
• Coordinate business requirements with BAs, plan and estimate delivery timelines.
• Grow as FX domain expert and learn deeper in FX business.
• Design subsystems and intersystem protocols, driving architectural vision.
• Investigate and fix production incidents, improving stability and monitoring.

Your key responsibilities

• Design and develop new functionality using Java and Kotlin
• Working with the business on quant, functional non-functional requirements, coordinating BAs working, planing and estimating delivery timelines
• Being ready to learn and dig into details of FX business to grow as subject matter expert
• Designing and implementing subsystems and intersystem protocols, driving longer-term platform architectural vision
• Investigating and fixing production incidents, driving stability and monitoring improvements

Your skills and experience

• Experience developing software in Java, with the technical knowledge required to design, build and maintain applications.. Kotlin/Full-stack is a plus
• Experience designing high-load distributed systems and fault-tolerant applications, including knowledge of relevant algorithms
• Good knowledge of Linux, understanding of containers and cloud solutions
• People leadership experience is a big plus
• Experience with modern SDLC tools (Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity) and project management is a plus
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs
