A little more about your role…

You will join our expanding Building Structures team as a Senior Engineer, responsible for project management and technical delivery from inception to handover.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

1. Develop innovative and sustainable designs for a wide range of challenging projects, including transportation hubs, tall towers, airports, and universities, collaborating with local architects.
2. Participate in multi-disciplinary design projects from concept through detailed design, coordinating with architects, engineers, and consultants.
3. Contribute to our ongoing success and help build a growing project portfolio.

This role can be performed on a full or part-time basis.

Your team

You will join a diverse, talented team working together to:

1. Lead on large multi-disciplinary projects and provide bespoke structural solutions for niche and architectural designs.
2. Build strong relationships with other WSP disciplines, external consultants, stakeholders, and clients.
3. Offer sustainable development solutions from site selection to detailed design and construction.
4. Provide specialist advice on sustainable design, net zero carbon, MMC, and DfMA.

You will have the chance to work on high-profile projects across various sectors, including rail, high-rise, airports, commercial, retail, education, and healthcare. Current projects include a low-carbon pier at Gatwick Airport, a new hospital in Brighton, and stations at either end of the HS2 line.

Our client base spans private and public sectors regionally and internationally. This is a fantastic opportunity to join WSP and contribute to prestigious projects.

Our Structures South team is based in Southampton and Basingstoke, and this role can be located in either office. Both offices are within walking distance of train stations and are situated in vibrant, accessible areas.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

• Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE / AIStructE / MICE) or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, analytical techniques, design software, and Eurocodes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in producing clear engineering deliverables.
• Interest in low carbon design and embodied carbon assessment.
• Experience in quality assurance of project outputs, including calculations and drawings.
