Thatcham Research seeks a Principal Engineer – Automotive Damageability to lead development of methodologies quantifying how vehicles perform in real-world low-speed damage events and assess insurability and customer outcomes.

You will define metrics, communicate complex engineering findings to diverse audiences, and act as the external technical authority, collaborating across safety, repair, data, operations, product and marketing.

Competenze

• Significant experience in vehicle engineering, crash performance, body structure engineering or vehicle damage assessment.
• Ability to interpret CAD data, technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

Mansioni

• Lead methodologies to understand and quantify vehicle damage risk.
• Define metrics and frameworks to evaluate damage performance.
• Translate damage-risk insights into insurance implications.
• Act as external technical authority representing the organisation with insurers, manufacturers and industry bodies.
• Collaborate with safety, repair, data, operations, product and marketing teams.
• Develop scalable damageability assessment methods and analytical models.
