Job summary

OM Search Consultants LTD is seeking a Senior Engineer for an automation-focused packaging machinery manufacturer in the United Kingdom. You will own the design, development, and release for manufacture across the full engineering lifecycle.

You’ll engage in R&D, cost-saving improvements, and final testing, with the opportunity to influence customer-facing documentation and build manuals. The role requires a strong engineering foundation, ERP/MRP skills, and a Mechanical Engineering degree with

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with attention to detail.
• ERP/MRP capability — ideally Business Central, or similar.
• 2D drawing competence and confidence with factory/layout design.
• High digital literacy — strong with modern tools, and AI skills are a major advantage.
• Ideally >10 years’ experience from the packaging industry or similar.
• An excellent understanding of pneumatic control and CE/ATEX considerations.

Responsibilities

• Machinery design for customer orders.
• R&D projects and new product development.
• Cost-saving engineering improvements.
• Final testing of equipment, occasionally in front of customers.
• Full ownership of design, development, and release for manufacture.
• Creation of build manuals, user manuals, and testing documentation.
