Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead a major infrastructure programme at Heathrow Airport, delivering civil, structural and enabling works in a live operational environment.

The role requires strong leadership of engineering teams, package management, and a solid grounding in NEC contracts, with eligibility to work in the UK and a full driving licence.

Qualifications

• Civil engineering experience including groundworks and structural steel.
• Package management with planning, reporting and budget control.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial interfaces.
• Experience leading engineering teams in a live, regulated environment.
• SMSTS and CSCS certification; Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe and compliant delivery of allocated work packages.
• Manage short-term programming and sequencing of works to align with the project programme.
• Coordinate day and night shift activities for efficient delivery.
• Monitor budgets, identify risks and opportunities, and collaborate with planning and commercial teams.
• Ensure permits, RAMS and QA documentation are in place and followed.
• Lead, mentor and support engineers and supervisors across the project team.
• Champion health, safety, quality and environmental performance.

• Must be able to commute to Heathrow Airport within approximately one hour

We're recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer to join a major infrastructure programme at Heathrow Airport, leading the delivery of critical civil, structural and enabling works within a live operational environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who can manage complex work packages, lead site teams, and drive programme delivery while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the safe and compliant delivery of allocated work packages.
• Manage short-term programming and sequencing of works in line with the overall project programme.
• Coordinate day and night shift activities to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Monitor budgets, identify risks and opportunities, and work closely with planning and commercial teams.
• Ensure permits, RAMS and QA documentation are in place and adhered to.
• Lead, mentor and support engineers and supervisors across the project team.
• Champion health, safety, quality and environmental performance at all times.

Requirements

• Strong experience in civil engineering, groundworks and structural steel works.
• Package management experience, including planning, reporting and budget control.
• Good understanding of NEC contracts.
• Experience leading engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• SMSTS and CSCS certification.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

• Previous Heathrow or airport infrastructure experience.
• Experience working within live, highly regulated operational environments.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, BIM360 and Bentley MicroStation.
