Job summary

VolkerWessels UK’s VolkerStevin is seeking a Senior Engineer to join a major project in Chesterfield, taking ownership of technical delivery and engineering control on key civil work packages. You will lead on-site activities with site teams to ensure safe, efficient construction and adherence to quality standards.

Join a collaborative delivery team within a multi-disciplinary group, with opportunities to influence interfaces and delivery while driving excellence in execution and safety.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Senior Engineer level experience on major infrastructure or energy projects.
• CSCS accreditation.
• Strong knowledge of engineering controls, setting out and QA processes.
• Experience with AutoCAD and digital document systems.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to coordinate multiple technical interfaces.

Job description

We are now looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our team on a major project in Chesterfield, supporting the successful delivery of critical infrastructure works in a fast-paced and technically challenging environment. As a Senior Engineer, you will take ownership of the technical delivery and engineering control of key civil engineering work packages. Working closely with Site Agents, Sub Agents, supervisors and project teams, you will ensure construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a significant infrastructure project while working within a collaborative and experienced delivery team.

About You

You will be a motivated and technically strong engineering professional with experience delivering major civil engineering, energy or infrastructure projects. You will be confident leading engineering activities on site, solving technical challenges and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and performance.

To Be Successful, You Should Have

• A Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience operating at Senior Engineer level on major infrastructure, energy or substation projects.
• Appropriate CSCS or EUSR CSCS accreditation.
• Strong knowledge of engineering controls, setting out and quality assurance processes.
• Experience using AutoCAD, digital document control systems and Microsoft 365.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to coordinate multiple technical interfaces and drive issues through to completion.

Highly Desirable Experience Includes

• Working within live 132kV, 275kV or 400kV substation environments.
• SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
• NEC3/NEC4 contract awareness.
• Temporary Works Coordinator or Temporary Works Supervisor competence.
• Knowledge of lifting operations and construction logistics.
