Job summary

First Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the delivery of major infrastructure projects on site in Cumbria. This permanent role requires steering project teams, developing delivery strategies, and ensuring safety, quality and budget adherence across multiple sites.

Key qualifications include NEC contract familiarity, HNC/HND/Engineering degree, and recognised site management certifications.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams to develop robust delivery plans, forecasts and programmes.
• Lead the development of delivery strategies, budgets and work package execution plans.
• Ensure effective scope management and challenge throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage and coordinate site delivery teams, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Develop strong working relationships with operational stakeholders and wider project teams.
• Create and promote a positive safety culture focused on efficient, high-quality delivery.
• Support the achievement of zero Lost Time Incidents (LTI) and reportable incidents.
• Monitor and report project performance, progress and key delivery metrics.
• Identify project and programme risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Adapt delivery plans to accommodate project changes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project requirements and compliance standards.

Lead the delivery of major infrastructure projects and play a key role in driving safe, high-quality project execution from concept through to handover.

Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Engineer, who will be required to work on a permanent basis in Cumbria.

Role Purpose:

• Support the delivery of major infrastructure projects ranging from approximately £12m to £150m in value.
• Work across the full project lifecycle, from concept and early contractor involvement through to construction, commissioning and handover.
• Lead project delivery teams and coordinate activities across one or multiple project sites.
• Develop construction strategies, delivery programmes and project plans.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, to the required quality standards, on time and within budget.
• Build collaborative relationships with operational teams, stakeholders and supply chain partners to drive successful project outcomes.

• Previous experience managing supply chain partners and site-based delivery teams.
• Familiarity with NEC forms of contract.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work across multiple project sites.
• HNC, HND or Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• SMSTS qualification.
• Relevant CSCS card.
• Recognised engineering and/or site management qualifications.
• IOSH or equivalent health and safety certification.
