Job summary

Gambling Commission in Birmingham is seeking a senior leader to head the Enforcement team, guiding complex regulatory and criminal investigations. You’ll provide direction, champion best practice, and advise senior colleagues on high-stakes cases.

You will build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, embed risk controls, and help ensure investigations meet professional standards while supporting the Commission’s statutory objectives.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and providing legal guidance where needed.
• Proven track record in complex, criminal or regulatory investigations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Proactively build effective working relationships with key internal and external senior stakeholders and Commissioners, including national and international bodies, agencies and other regulators, providing expert advice and guidance.
• Providing senior investigative direction and oversight to both regulatory and criminal cases.
• Lead post-implementation evaluation/lessons learned exercises, ensuring best practice is captured and disseminated appropriately.
• Embed risk and issue management monitoring to identify, assess, prioritise and respond to risks to regulated operator/entity compliance with the Gambling Act 2005 and related Regulations.
• Contribute to and review the development and delivery of strategies, business planning and operational guidance notes to maximise Enforcement capability.
• Lead the Issue Management Group and Case Management Group triage process and the wider programme activity.
