Job summary

Suncor in London is seeking a seasoned risk professional to oversee daily risk and P&L reporting for North America and international crude, products and LPG trading. You will translate complex data into clear operational insights, challenge trading strategies, and ensure governance and regulatory compliance across global teams.

This role offers scope to influence risk controls and collaborate with Calgary, London and Houston desks within a high-performance energy trading environment.

Qualifications

• University degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or CS.
• 5+ years in commodity trading (front, middle or back office).
• Strong understanding of commodity risk management and P&L reporting.
• Experience with P&L validation, IPV, and valuation oversight.
• Knowledge of regulatory environments and compliance.
• Excellent cross-functional communication across global teams.
• Ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
• Independent and objective in relation to Front Office expectations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and publish daily risk management exposure and P&L reports for North America and international trading.
• Deliver high-quality, automated management information.
• Bring transparency to deal structures and explain financial impacts operationally.
• Provide independent understanding of trading strategies to identify and mitigate risk.
• Administer risk governance policies and ensure trading activity complies with policies.
• Support product lines as main risk function contact with global teams in London, Calgary and Houston.
• Support regional and global process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with commercial and other functions to support growth of new business initiatives.
• Balance independent reporting and business partnering with a commercial approach.
• Engage in cross-functional projects, audit support, working capital analysis, and IFRS reconciliation.
• Demonstrate and develop understanding of physical and financial energy markets.
