Vallum Associates is seeking a Senior Energy Analyst to join their London-based hybrid team. The role focuses on UK power markets, BESS and flexible energy, intersecting market analysis, commercial optimisation and asset performance.

Responsibilities include analysing wholesale and ancillary markets, revenue stacking and model-driven recommendations for senior stakeholders. Strong Excel and analytical modelling are essential, with Python/SQL/Power BI beneficial.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience across UK power, flexibility or energy markets.
• Strong knowledge of BESS, flexibility and energy storage.
• Understanding Balancing Mechanism, ancillary services, wholesale markets and revenue stacking.
• Experience with asset optimisation, dispatch, route-to-market or flexibility platforms.
• Advanced Excel; Python, SQL, Power BI or optimisation tools beneficial.
• Ability to translate market data into clear commercial recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Analyse UK wholesale, balancing and ancillary service markets.
• Assess BESS and flexibility revenue opportunities across multiple markets.
• Support asset optimisation and route-to-market strategy.
• Build and interrogate commercial, forecasting and optimisation models.
• Analyse asset performance, market trends and revenue drivers.
• Produce recommendations for commercial, trading and senior stakeholders.
• Support the development of new flexibility products and market opportunities.
