Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust in Southampton is seeking a Band 6 Senior Endoscopy Nurse to lead clinically in the Endoscopy Unit while protecting dedicated time for education and workforce development.

You will provide senior clinical leadership, oversee patient care through endoscopy procedures, and contribute to teaching, mentoring and professional development of the nursing and support workforce. A Teaching or practice education qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Endoscopy Nurse with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience in teaching, mentoring, coaching or competency assessment is essential; teaching qualification desir able.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, able to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, infection prevention and control.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
• Act as a senior nurse within the clinical environment to support endoscopy lists.
• Undertake patient assessment, preparation, monitoring and recovery.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to the multidisciplinary team.
• Promote safe practice in sedation, infection prevention and control, medicines management and patient safety.
• Support junior staff and learners within the clinical environment.
• Be a positive role model, upholding professional standards and compassionate patient-centred care.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.
• Education Role: identify needs, develop and deliver education/training, support induction and ongoing professional development.
