Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Senior Endoscopy Nurse with a dedicated education role to join the Endoscopy team. The post is a permanent, 37.5-hour week combining 22.5 hours of clinical practice with 15 hours of protected education time.

You will provide senior clinical leadership within the Endoscopy Unit while supporting education, training and professional development of the endoscopy nursing and support workforce.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register.
• Degree qualification, 120 credits at L6 or equivalent knowledge.
• Significant post registration experience in a relevant specialty.
• Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies.
• Higher Education Institute approved course for supporting learners in practice or equivalent experience.
• Extensive post registration experience within the specialty.
• Knowledge of current issues within the acute health service.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care for endoscopy patients.
• Act as a senior nurse, supporting safe running of endoscopy lists.
• Undertake patient assessment, preparation, monitoring and recovery.
• Provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
• Promote safe practice in sedation, infection prevention, medicines management and patient safety.
• Support junior staff and learners in the clinical environment.
• Be a positive role model upholding professional standards and patient-centered care.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.
