Job summary

The New Foscote Hospital, part of Akessa Healthcare Group, seeks a senior practitioner to lead its endoscopy team as the department expands with a second theatre.

You will balance hands-on suite work with leadership duties, support the endoscopy manager, and contribute to the JAG accreditation submission.

Registration with NMC or HCPC and endoscopy experience are required, with commuting to Banbury, Oxfordshire.

Qualifications

• Two years' endoscopy experience.
• At least one year as a registered practitioner in endoscopy.
• NMC or HCPC registration.
• Knowledge of CQC, GRS, JAG and HTM 01-06 standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the endoscopy team alongside the endoscopy manager in running the department.
• Deliver a safe, high-quality, patient-centred endoscopy service across the whole patient pathway.
• Carry out the day-to-day duties of the endoscopy unit, hands‑on in the suite.
• Assist the endoscopist during procedures, including snares, polyp and biopsy collection.
• Admit, recover and discharge patients promptly, monitoring comfort and pain.
• Assist with the final submission of the JAG application.
• Liaise with the Oxford University Hospitals decontamination team at Horton Endoscopy Unit over endoscope availability.
• Maintain infection prevention and control, a safe environment and accurate patient records.
• Support staff through in‑service training, development and clinical audit.
• Apply legislation, policies and procedures and ensure others comply with them.
• Accept delegated responsibilities within scope of practice and give specialist advice.
• Promote evidence-based practice and respect patients' dignity, privacy and wishes.
