Job summary

Harper James, a growing commercial law firm, is seeking a Senior Employment Solicitor with 7+ years PQE to join our Employment team. The role involves handling a varied workload across SMEs and large businesses, with a strong focus on contentious work and tribunal matters.

You will draft consultancy agreements, advise on TUPE and status matters including IR35, manage disciplinary processes, and support senior executives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years PQE in employment law, with a bias toward contentious work.
• Strong experience in day-to-day employment matters for SMEs and larger companies.
• Experience handling restructures and redundancies (including collective).
• Experience managing discrimination and whistle-blowing cases.
• Advising on TUPE transfers, including corporate support.
• Drafting consultancy agreements and advising on employment status (IR35).
• Drafting director service agreements and contracts of employment; managing disciplinary and grievance processes; handling senior exec severances.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical employment law advice to a range of clients from SMEs to bigger organisations.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business growth.
• Lead and support contentious matters and tribunal work as part of the employment team.
• Draft and negotiate consultancy agreements and executive contracts; advise on IR35 status.
• Guide on disciplinary and grievance processes and senior leadership separations.
