Qualifications

• Significant Employee Relations experience within a busy HR, Shared Services or advisory environment.
• Strong understanding of UK employment law and its practical application.
• Proven experience handling complex disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, absence management and employee relations escalations.
• Previous people management or team leadership experience, with the ability to coach and develop others.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence influencing at all levels.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience providing remote and telephone-based HR advice within a fast-paced environment.
• A Level 5 HR qualification (or equivalent) and formal mediation training.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and developing a team of Employee Relations Specialists, providing day-to-day guidance, support and performance management.
• Allocating and overseeing ER casework, ensuring a consistent, high-quality service is delivered across the business.
• Acting as the escalation point for complex, sensitive and high-risk employee relations matters.
• Providing expert advice and guidance on a wide range of ER issues, including disciplinary, grievance, appeal and absence management cases.
• Partnering with managers and senior leaders to support effective decision-making and achieve positive employee relations outcomes.
• Delivering commercially focused, legally compliant advice in line with company policy and employment legislation.
• Managing dispute resolution and workplace mediation activity, helping to resolve employee concerns proactively.
• Supporting the management of long-term sickness and occupational health cases across designated business areas.
• Accurately recording case activity within the CRM system and maintaining comprehensive case documentation.
• Contributing to the review and continuous improvement of ER policies, processes and guidance documents.
