The Emergency Quadrant at YGC, part of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, seeks a Consultant in Emergency Medicine to lead clinical care and strategic ED activities across a 24/7 service. The role requires strong leadership, governance, and teaching skills within a busy ED environment serving North Wales.

You will oversee medical handovers, manage ED risk and capacity, coordinate workforce resources, and mentor junior doctors while delivering high-quality emergency care across a full case

Formación

• Full GMC Specialist Registration in Emergency Medicine or CCT within 6 months of interview (CESR applicants must have GMC Specialist Registration)
• FRCEM required for the role
• Valid ATLS/ETC, ALS, APLS or equivalent provider status
• Desirable: subspecialty training in Paediatrics or Prehospital EM; instructor status in ALS/ATLS/APLS; other postgraduate quals e.g., DipIMC

Responsabilidades

• Lead medical handovers and huddles
• Support NIC to manage ED risk, capacity, and safety
• Be a point of clinical contact for Senior Clinicians and Management
• Coordinate workforce resources and respond to short-notice staffing gaps
• Use Symphony to proactively run the ED
• Focus on patient safety risks and reviewing unwell patients
• Support streaming to MIUs, SDEC or specialties as appropriate
• Attend to unexpected issues and health and safety risks
