Job summary

BCUHB's Emergency Department in Wales is a modern hub that handles major trauma and a full case-mix across specialties. The post supports ED leadership, coordinating capacity and risk management to maintain safe, high-quality care.

As part of the ED leadership team, you will lead medical handovers, partner with senior clinicians, and use the Symphony system to run the department proactively, including streaming to MIUs, SDEC, and acute services as needed.

Qualifications

• Leads and participates in emergency department handovers and huddles.
• Manages ED risk and capacity escalation in collaboration with NIC and management.
• Acts as a point of clinical contact for senior clinicians and management within ED.
• Coordinates workforce resources to cover short-notice staffing gaps and safe service provision.
• Uses the Symphony system to proactively run the ED.
• Monitors patient safety risks, reviews unwell patients, and sees patients as needed.
• Supports streaming of patients to MIUs, SDEC or other specialties where appropriate.
• Anticipates and intervenes with unexpected issues such as health and safety risks.
