Company Overview

The role

We’re searching for Senior Embedded Engineers to design and build high-performance tooling supporting our OTPU hardware development. You will own tools for hardware safety, calibration, debugging, and validation, from concept to deployment—rapidly iterating, prototyping, and delivering robust embedded solutions to ensure our OTPUs operate safely, efficiently, and at peak performance.

Responsibilities

• Architect robust tooling for hardware validation and bring-up, with rapid prototyping in Python and a clear path to production.
• Design and implement embedded systems for hardware safety, synchronization, and low-level control.
• Develop calibration and debug tooling, primarily in Python.
• Define and implement CI/CD infrastructure tailored for embedded development, enabling fast iteration and high system confidence.
• Create systems for real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and fault handling across OTPU hardware.
• Define and enforce boundaries between prototype and production code to ensure maintainability.
• Collaborate with optical, hardware, and software teams to align on interfaces, requirements, and performance goals.

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years experience with hardware bring-up, calibration, and debugging of custom systems (e.g., SoCs, FPGAs, AI accelerators).
• Deep proficiency in C/C++ for embedded applications, understanding real-time constraints, memory models, and hardware interfaces.
• Strong Python skills for prototyping, automation, and testing.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines for embedded development.
• Proficiency with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG).
• Understanding of hardware/software boundaries, including interrupt handling, bus protocols (e.g., PCIe), and memory-mapped I/O.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to thrive in fast-paced, cross-disciplinary startup environments.

Details

• Competitive salary from £135,000 to £165,000, based on experience.

• All employees are required to work from our London HQ and live within a 45-minute commute. An additional £24,000/year incentive is offered for those within 20 minutes.
