Job summary

Thales in Glasgow is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead software design and development for embedded systems. You will work on C++ across full lifecycle, aligning with UML architectures, and collaborate in an Agile environment to deliver high-assurance software for land, sea, and air platforms.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, architecture definition, and coaching junior engineers, with security clearance and UK residency requirements typical for this sector.

Qualifications

• Developed with C++ language and real-time embedded environments (essential).
• Experience with test frameworks (GoogleTest/GoogleMock).
• Exposure to static analysis tools (Klocwork/Coverity) and test coverage tools (Bullseye).
• Some exposure to test automation/CI.
• Desirable understanding of UML artifacts and requirements management (DOORS).
• Desirable experience in safety standards (IEC 61508/DO-178C).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and ownership for a software design.
• Develop software in C++ following UML-based architectures and interface specifications.
• Contribute to software architectures considering system constraints and document decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering to analyze requirements and contribute to solution architecture.
• Contribute to testing activities and participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Support peer reviews and prepare materials for major gate reviews.
• Provide coaching and technical support to junior engineers.
